On February 22, 2019 Daugavpils University’s (DU) UNESCO Chair in cooperation with the Career initiative and support center within the framework of an international project “Clicking with Voters” have organized a discussion about the securability and youth initiatives. There were participants from the society “Doers,” youth center “Zili brīnumi” the designers of the blog “Solyanlka” and youth from schools and gymnasium. Discussion was moderated by the member of the society “Doers” Viktors Gallers and the researcher of the Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences, Center of Sustainable Education, Mārīte Kravale – Pauliņa.
During the discussion the participants acknowledged that youth is not only the future of the EU but also the future of the world. Youth initiative can be implemented by making changes not only in the governmental level but also in NGO and private sector. The participants of the discussion acknowledged that knowledge opens the way for the youth. Youth in the EU will be secure if they understand their task ad if they are not afraid to design their everyday life. As the main risks for their securability they have mentioned fear to make mistakes. At the end of the discussion the participants played the game “System thinking” that allowed them to see that social skills, cooperation, responsibility, tolerance and the analyses of the situation secures one’s ability to overcome obstacles.
