[GR] Awareness Raising event in Kalamata

Social Youth Development (K.A.NE) as partner in the ”Clicking with voters” project had to organise before the Euro-elctions of 25 of May 2019, 3 events/debates as it was discussed and set up in the 2nd meeting of the project in Krakow. In the events/debates the target group was: first time voters and in general young people who have the right to vote.

The aim of the events/debates was to discuss and analyse with the young participants about active citizenship and further to motivate them to vote on the elections.

This way, the third event that K.A.NE organised, in order to achieve the above aim, was an open event in a central cultural structure in Kalamata on the 9th of May. The specific event took place on that date on purpose, as it was during the European youth week. In this event, students had the chance to participate in non-formal education activities and to discover ways of being active as citizens. They also discovered the things that someone can gain by being active and the importance of it in general. Local students had the chance to see examples of active citizens as at the same time, a presentation of a youth exchange took place and international volunteers participated as well. Additionally, the event closed with a concert of a local school band (which was also part of the project).

As it seems, In all the parts of the event young people in different ages, with different backgrounds participated and the fact that they exchanged experiences between them motivated them even more to be active citizens and further to participate in the elections.
