[FR] Local Youth Parliament Session #3

General context:

In the framework of a forum activity, organized with the Local Mission –a public organism to get youth oriented into the professional environment, connecting them with a wide network of enterprises, higher education institutions and national /international associations- the Clicking With Voters staff prepared a workshop centered in “Mobility and employment opportunities” as a channel to introduce the topic of the upcoming European Elections.

Development of the workshop/discussion:

Once the event started with the speech of the Mayor, the organizers invited the youth present around the salon to attend the workshop. The participants’ age was among 16 to 25, counting youth from different social spheres and cultural backgrounds. There was a good proportion of boys and girls.

Following the icebreaking activity, a brainstorming related to mobility opportunities took place as the introduction of the named activity “Your turn to move” in which by pairs were given different profiles of youth interested in experimented an international mobility opportunity: studies, internship, traveling, exchange, training, working…

The youth present did not know the different European and French programs they have access to get an international opportunity.

The activity have two main purposes: 1) get youth aware the different European programs and 2) to lead them into the research process of the opportunities through internet.

Consequently, it was introduced the Clicking with Voters project, getting the participants informed about the upcoming European Elections: date, how to vote, why it is important to express their voice through the vote. Graphic support material was provided to further encourage their engagement for the mentioned political event.

It is necessary to highlight, the deep interest of the participants on the operational system during the elections. Moreover, they also pointed out the relevance for their daily life of the laws legislated in the sein of the European Parliament.

Finally, they expressed their satisfaction for the workshop assisted and some of them asked to get in contact later on in the case they would like to try an international mobility opportunity.

Suggestions coming up from participants concerning the event:

  • All the participants confirmed to have improved their knowledge and comprehension of the currently situation of the environment.
  • The whole group hold that the information received were totally clear and comprehensible.
  • They were satisfied with the material given to them.
  • In the same line, they uphold to have a general knowledge of the project « clicking with voters » and the international campaign «#cettefoisjevote ».
  • Additionally, they have found the methodology employed accurate to the session.
  • Likewise, they were satisfied with the work done by the youth workers during the session.
  • Finally, the participants would like to increase their engagement at the local level in Marseille.
  • They remain worry about the role of Europe coming to the subject of environment and the actions emerged by the Europeans citizens.
  • The participants had also clarified doubts concerning the nearby elections, the local actions in terms of environment and the state of the environment in the city.
