[FR] Local Youth Parliament Session #2 “European Institutions”

Duration of activity: from 13h30 until 16h

The activities were successfully carried out. We had the support of Eurocircle.

The interactive discussion, based in the functioning of the European institutions, the European values and the citizen engagement towards Europe, took place around an “aperitif table”, knowing that a fluent and deep conversation could be boosted through a shared meal.

Ideas and opinions emerged during the debate:

  • To foster the creation of a European citizenship over the legal scheme, for example: an European identity card.
  • To provide along the school/high school/university period the information required to better understand how is works the European institutions, which are the advantages as citizens, following the political updated concerning every European citizen.
  • To create a space of exchange between citizens and the European deputies.
  • To promote the transparence, warranting a better citizen cohesion to Europe
  • To include in the European institutions debates counting with the presence of citizens without political representation.
  • To plan referendums in which the European citizens will have a percentage of vote.
  • To hold European social politics in order to guarantee a European belonging feeling.  ·
  • To develop a youth program to further an intercultural dialogue and the European cohesion.

Observations coming from the participants concerning the event:

  • They would like to have a space among European citizens to discuss about “Europe” in general terms (institutions, laws, advantages, opportunities)
  • They would like to create and encourage a real connection (even by online means) between the elected deputies in the course of their mandate.
  • They want to get engaged on the campaign #ThisTimeImVoting#cettefoisjevote.eu
  • They increased they interest in the performance of the European Union
  • All the participants confirmed to have improved their knowledge of the European institutions.
  • The whole group hold that the information received were totally clear and comprehensible.
  • They were also satisfied with the material given to them.
  • In the same line, they uphold to have a general knowledge of the project « clicking with voters » and the international campaign «#cettefoisjevote ».
  • Additionally, they have found the methodology employed accurate to the session.
